Batasan Psikolinguistik dalam Bahasa Inggris

The Psycholinguistic endeavor is to uncover the mental processes that are implicated in the comprehension, production, and acquisition of language.just as psychology is the study of the control of behavior, psycholinguistic is the study of the control of linguistic behavior. Language is so central to human behavior that the study of language behavior leads us into a complex network of relationships with many other disciplines. One of these is the interdisciplinary relationship between linguistics and psychology. The marriage of these two fields has resulted in the emergence of a new field called psycholinguistics.

Psycholinguistics, as its term suggests, is a field of study concerned with psychological aspects of language. Like most fields, its practitioners may concentrate on one of two aspects, the theoretical aspect or the practical (applied) aspect. The theoretical aspect usually attempts to provide a linguistically and psychologically valid theory of language which can explain the nature of language and its acquisition. The practical aspect of psycholinguistics generally tries to apply linguistic and psychological language learning and teaching, speech pathology, etc. (Kess. 1999:1)
